It is luverly to be back in Blogland….I’ve missed visiting!

I found this questionnaire on Vickie’s blog and thought…why not?!?

 

How Aussie are you. BODY {font-family: Arial;font-size: 10pt;}

1. Been dive bombed by a magpie – yes….and the blood runs cold when you hear the whistle of the wings!
2. Have seen a crocodile – no.
3. Have seen a snake in the wild – yes many times of assorted varieties and sizes….including Herbert (a huge dugite which lived at the back of the carport in a block of flats in the wheat belt…plenty of mice means they grow BIG out there….)a gwardar which was curled up on the mat at the back door in the same town….I shut the door and went out to work by the front door……there were a lot of baby snakes in jars that day for show and tell….a nest had hatched that morning….a sea snake or three….including one which was wriggling in our direction….and the one which was sticking out of the sand waiting for the tide to go out (we saw about 6 foot of it).

4. Been bitten by a snake or other Aussie wildlife – no snake bites….plenty of insect bites, though….including a bite from the infamous white tipped spider…. Does getting bitten by a lamb, a piglet and a calf count? *makes a mental note to not pat unweaned cute mammals….their gums still pack a punch!*
5. Patted a koala – yes.
6. Seen a kangaroo in the wild – yes….including a mob of them at the bottom of the street every night in one of the towns I lived in a few years ago.
7. Climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge – no.
8. Climbed the Story Bridge in Brisbane – no.
9. Visited the Sydney Opera House – no.
10. Swum at the beach – yes…..telling myself that the sharks are MAN eaters….so I will be safe!
11. Had fish and chips on the beach – mmmmmmmm yes! A Villies meat pie and a choc milk are also good on the beach!
12. Been stung by a jellyfish – more than once….unfortunately!
13. Had sunburn that peeled – OUCH! Yes.  Had it treated many times with a sticky concotion that smelt like week old dead fish, stained my clothes yellow….but it worked!
14. Camped under the stars – yes.
15. Visited Uluru – no.
16. Driven the Great Ocean Road in Victoria – no.

17. Seen the penguins on Phillip Island Victoria – no, but have seen them on Penguin Island here in Western Australia.
18. Had an outdoor BBQ with Friends – yes.
19. Played backyard/beach Cricket – yes to both.
20. Watched a real cricket match live – no.
21. Betted on the Melbourne Cup – no.
22. Attended the Melbourne Cup Live from Flemington – no.
23. Attended a live Aussie Rules or rugby football game – I’d ride my bike down to the local oval to watch the Goldsworthy Tigers when I was a kid.

24. Ridden a Melbourne Tram – no.
25. Snow Skied in the “high country” of NSW/Vicno.

26. Visited the Great Barrier Reef – no.

27. Been to Kakadu – no.
28. Crossed the Nullabour by road – by train when I was a kid….woke mum and dad up at some ungodly hour just to tell them we were on the Nullabour….they were NOT impressed!
29. Gone down the Murray River on a paddle steamer – no

30. Survived a cyclone – yes…..every summer when I was a kid for a few years…..Cyclone Joan was the scariest…..a window the size of a wall came in and the roof lifted and was banging for the duration of the cyclone….leaving a huge fracture down a side wall!
31. Survived a bushfire – been close.
32. Experienced a big flood – yes…..and been cut off from civilisation due to flooding.
33. Know who the Wiggles are – yes….WAKE UP JEFF!!!
34. Know who Humphrey the Bear is – yes….Humphrey drools….Fat Cat roolz.
35. Watched Play School as a kid or mum of a kid Both
36. Watched Skippy the Bush Kangaroo – yes….and owned the book when I was a kid.
37. Own an Australia Flag yes.
38. Know the words to Advance Australia Fair – yes…..both verses.
39. Eat Vegemite -yes. There is always a jar in the fridge.
40. Drink Milo – yes.
41. Know what lamingtons are yes. Whenever I see one, I think of the Mem Fox book Possum Magic.
42. Know what Pavlova is – yes. Never made one from scratch, though it is on the cooking bucket list.
43. Know what Tim Tams – mmmmmmmmmmm yes! When I was uber broke I’d always leave one Tim Tam in the fridge…..If I had one left everything was ok….I would like one of those never ending packets, though.
44.Eaten a meat pie – yes….with the obligatory tomato sauce.
45. Gave or received a “dead arm” – yes….what are little brothers for?
46. Have owned an Akubra hat – yes.
47. Own/owned an Australia Cattle dog – No, but have patted a few,
48. Been to a B& S ball – or know what one is – Never been to one, but know what it is.

9. Drive a ute – no. Have been a passenger plenty of times in one.
50. Say G’day – yes
51. Can cook damper – I can burn it over a camp fire and cook it in the oven (if it counts as damper that way!)
52. Can make billy tea – Swing a tin of boiling hot water with a handful of tea leaves next to my ear? Nooooooooooo!
53. Supported a sausage sizzle – Mmmmmmmmmm yes!
54. Own John Williamson CD/Music – No. but have used them many times at work when teaching singing.
55. Owned chooks or know what they are- Don’t own any….but am rather partial to whimsical applique patterns which have them. There are three small chook wall hangings in the laundry and a medium sized one on the wall next to me.

56. Call the toilet “the dunny” – The outside kind – yes…..and was nearly carried off by the dunny budgies at Bluff Knoll.
57 . Wear thongs (on your feet…) – yes. The current ones have skulls with pink bows on their heads at a rakish angle.
58. Support Aussie music – Definitely
59. Enjoy a beer – an occasional Beez Kneez goes down very nicely in hot weather.
60.Swallowed a fly – Yes…more often than I would like.

56. Call the toilet “the dunny” – The outside kind – yes…..and was nearly carried off by the dunny budgies at Bluff Knoll.

  1. ahh welcome back -darn louverly to see you in type again..hahaha what you ain’t made a pav c’mon get with it-you just buy them egg shaped shell things and whammo pav is made-hehehe,cheers Vickeie
