Cross-stitch, quilting, craft….

I’m sitting here laughing because everything I attempt to write for this entry sounds like a seven year old’s show and tell!  I must be in holiday mode.

This is one of the Holiday Morning blocks, designed by Kathy Doughty from the book Material Obsession she co-wrote with Sarah Fielke.  At 120cm (47in) x 97cm (38 ¼ in) it is the largest wall hanging I’ve made and I’m looking forward to quilting it and getting it up on a wall.

I have no patience when it comes to following instructions….Which is where The Missus comes in.  After ten hours minutes of scrutinising and carefully following the instructions on how to attach the walking foot to my sewing machine I was ready to send it whizzing through the closed  sliding door. *cue the superhero music…enter…GADGET WOMAN*  The Missus calmly puts it together in half the time and it works perfectly!  So I was a happy little chapatti for the rest of the day.

I zapped around the angel and stars using raw edge applique with clear thread to quilt it.  Love that stuff!  It just needs the binding to be hand sewn on the back and a sleeve attached.  It will be finished by the end of the week and all ready for Christmas.  Quilty Christmas bits are sadly lacking after I had a chuck out last year. Tis time to make more!  Especially when I am in an applique kinda mood.

I came across this site with small cross stitch patters a few minutes ago.   I think it is work investigating!!!
