Citius, Altius, Fortius
I’m ready….I’ve limbered up…..I’ve trained…..Now I’m chomping at the bit waiting patiently for 9.30am Saturday morning…….When, I’ll be sitting with the airconditioning on at an icy 18 degrees C, wearing my favourite beanie, clutching a hot chocolate……all excited and breathless until that magical moment happens when…………
I CAN CAST ON FOR THE KNITTING OLYMPICS!!!!!!!!!!
In a nut shell, the Knitting Olympics is organised by The Yarn Harlot Any knitter can join in, so long as they embody the Olympic Spirit. A project which is challenging for the knitter is cast on during the Opening Ceremony and cast off before the flame goes out….sixteen days later. There is a gold medal….she has gone all Yoda on us….”do or do not etc etc”.
I’ll be casting on my very first project in the round on dpn’s using sock yarn…..three newbies there…..The Missus is giving herself a non-crafty word search challenge. I think it will be a fun challenge, no matter what craft you choose….Is anyone else starting something?
Makes Me Happy Monday
Watching brown honey eaters zoom in and out of the grevilleas. I’m looking at one now eating nectar. They fly so fast I can’t catch them on the camera and tend to dash in and out of the grevilliea to eat. So here’s a link with some good piccies ….

They have a sweet song, but also a loud raucous squawk! They are very entertaining little characters the way they zoom and hop around the garden.
And There’s More!!!!
WordPress has decided NOT to play nice again….and only posted part of my last post….So (hopefully) here’s the rest!
This heat/stop the table getting scratched pad fell victim to the “safe place” syndrome recently. I know things will turn up…it just bugs me when I can’t find them!
I dabbled with a bit of dyeing over the past couple of weeks. I was short a few pieces of fabric for the tablecloth top in yellow and purple, so dived into my stash for some black and white fabric to makeover. I was very pleased with the yellow. The next lot had a few ups and downs….I will post piccies soon, as the fabric needs an iron.
Bloggus Interuptus….
Last weekend’s post was partially eaten….so here is the rest….
Last Sunday I was in the mood for a bit of sewing instant gratification, so I whipped up a tea towel bag. These are fun to make….and fast.

Where’s The Month Gone???

Happy Australia Day
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNT7uZf7lew
Today we celebrate as a nation who we are and what is great about Australia. It is a day for reflection on all our achievements and for being proud of our remarkable nation. It is a day where we re-affirm our commitment to continue making Australia an even better place for the future. HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY!
Makes Me Happy Monday
Standing in the back yard this morning about 7.30am taking a photo of the grey sky over the back fence as it rained was sheer heaven. We’ve been going through a stinking hot spell. Today was the first time it has rained this summer. I stood in the still, warm morning air, breathing in deeply and feeling the cold droplets on my warm skin. All evidence of it was gone as fast as it came……but it was a truly magic moment.
Christmas Kitty
Ta daaaaaaaaa! Christmas Kitty by The Cat’s Whiskers – my first FOSAL finish for the year. I sat it on the box I’m storing the ornaments in for the year.
To choose next month’s ornament, I asked The Missus to pick a number between 1 and 12. She chose 7, which is Row of Trees from Jill Oxton’s Cross Stitch Special Issue 1.
Makes Me Happy Monday
Munching on a buttered home made blueberry and strawberry muffin while watching the last day of the (cricket) test match between Australia and Pakistan with a cup of tea in the airconditioning made both The Missus and I happy today!
